seems like the best solution is to come up with an rsync wrapper?

its sad to see that this is not an open source license through

      1. 2

Well it’s not free software as defined by the FSF. But is that a bad thing? Isn’t this kind of cooperative spirit what “open source” should be about in the first place? I mean, if a MITM platform intended for usage by intelligence services is released under GPLv3, does that make it good for anyone?

There were some debates almost two decades ago in the french-speaking world about free software (logiciel libre) vs freeing software (logiciel libérateur). This also echoes the more recent debates around RFC1984 at the IETF.

      RIP keybase :(

why does anyone even use zoom? its literally the worse software for videocalling

my school FORCES us to use zoom AND they are PAYING zoom, so its not money thats an issue, they could easily rent a small vps and host a bigbluebutton or jitsi instance BUT NO they have to use **** zoom :(

    10. 3

Hmmm. They won’t encrypt calls for free users because they are concerned about their free users committing crimes. They will encrypt their paying users’ calls so, they must not be concernwed about those users committing crimes. I don’t understand the logic unless law enforcement is paying Zoom for access to the free users’ calls.

        I found the fix!!

upstream lobsters has a 70-day new account period which prevents new users from submitting stories on domains that have never been submitted before as a spam-prevention method.

in the case that this 70-day period hit with a new domain, a mod log was attempted to be created by a hard-coded user account called “inactive-user” (inactive_user.rb)

i’ve created the missing user that was assumed to exist and lowered the NEW_USER_DAYS to 7

        cheers!

so now I know more about javascript’s flaws - where’s the fault of per-user web directories at exactly?

Would this even be a problem on smaller/restricted (as in invite-only) servers where it’ll be a lot easier for the machine admins to watch for vulnerabilities and stuff in user web dirs?

      1. 1

in the article, they claimed that even if all the users are trusted, they cannot be trusted/expected to check for new vulnerabilities in the things they put in their userdir, which would still have javascript making the whole thing insecure.

    14. 2

the whole article is about how javascript has a bunch of design flaws and security issues, not about userdirs are dangerous

I had some similar issues recently and managed to post after a few days for absolutely no reason!

      2. 1

i had the same issue, but it worked fine when i posted a different URL, not sure why

      3. 1

I’ve had a couple reports of this now and I haven’t been able to reproduce… source code is here if anyone wants to have a stab. I can try to dig up some logs too if that helps.

intresting read, though i would say RSS would not be that useful as a standalone social network, though. it does not scale well, as you subscribe to more people you will either have to sacrifice bandwidth, or how quickly you will see new feed items. another reason is if you use RSS as a standalone network, it would be difficult to find new feeds. RSS still works fine for what it was intended for though, subscribing to news websites and stuff.

intresting, i did not know that the color of the graph changes how one would perceive it.
