It sounds like it would be really obvious that it was a fake window if you used a different OS and styling than what the phisher expected. They probably have different skins for each default styling of all the different versions of windows (and MacOS or OS X or iOS or whatever Apple is calling their OS now) that can be selected based on your useragent.
